Window tinting in California
California front doors stay light. Ceramic film is what actually drops the cabin temperature when you cannot go dark on the driver and passenger windows.
In California, front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear glass can be any darkness. Windshield film stays a clear strip at the top, not a full tint. House and storefront film is not held to that driving rule. This is a summary of published limits, not legal advice.
