Home window film in Alabama heat
Alabama houses take sun from late morning until the storms build. Film is the retrofit for glass that is intact and rooms that are not comfortable. It is not a substitute for a failed window.
Heat, fade, and glare
Infrared is what heats the room. UV is what fades floors, fabric, and art. Glare is what makes a television or a laptop unusable at 3 p.m. A proper residential film is built to deal with all three, and the mix depends on the room. A nursery wants UV and heat. A living room with a view wants a neutral film that does not muddy the trees. A bath wants frost more than solar performance.
Most professional films block about 99% of UV. Heat rejection depends on the line. We do not quote a single “blocks 80% of heat” line for every window in the house.
When film is the wrong product
Fog between panes means the seal is dead. Film on the room side will not fix that. Rotten sashes, hard-to-operate sliders, and glass that is already cracked need a glazier or a window company. If that is the house you have, we will say so. Summit films glass. We do not sell replacement windows under another name.
