What film changes inside a house

Good residential film rejects a large share of infrared heat, blocks most UV, and takes the edge off glare without turning the room into a cave. You still see the yard. You just stop squinting, and the AC is not fighting a greenhouse.

It is not low-E replacement glass, and we will not pretend a film roll beats a full window replacement on a rotten frame. If the seal has failed and the pane is fogged between the layers, you need glass, not film. If the glass is clear and the room is hot, film is the practical fix.

The night-time mirror problem

A reflective film can look like a mirror from the street during the day, which is what a lot of people want. At night, with the lights on inside, that effect flips. Neighbors can see in, and you see a mirror. If privacy after dark matters, you want a more neutral film plus blinds or shades, not a promise of one-way glass. We say that before we sell it.

How home jobs are priced

Home film is priced by the square foot of glass, the film line, and how many panes we have to work around. Typical installed work in Alabama lands around $8 to $16 a square foot. A single slider is a small ticket. A wall of west windows is not. Call with a rough count of windows and which rooms get afternoon sun. We turn that into a real number.
